ISD was committed by Shenzhen Shundian Trading Co. to
develop a set of business management system to support
its chain store mode and scalability needs.
Shenzhen Shundian Trading Co. is the first retailer that
gained ISO9002 certification through international certification
organization in China. It has three chain stores in Shenzhen
and is the largest home appliance retailer locally. The
company selected ISD's "Sixunsoft 2001 Jin-Xiao-Cun"
distributed version to replace its original POS system.
It is required to realize data interchange and data sharing
between headquarter and chain stores, headquarter and
business departments, chain store and chain store, delivery
center and chain stores. ISD also developed new functions
based on "Sixunsoft 2001 Jin-Xiao-Cun" for Shundian's
business.
Front Desk POS Offline Operation
Front desk POS offline operation is one of the major features
of "Sixunsoft 2001 Jin-Xiao-Cun". System network
or servers may have temporary breakdown. But sales of
the stores must continue.
Front desk POS will switch to single computer sales and
save the sales data locally until the breakdown ends,
then it will transmit the data to the database on POS
server.
Remote Access and Management
Another major feature of "Sixunsoft 2001 Jin-Xiao-Cun"
is remote access and management. Customers can select
to install functions that support remote access during
system installation. After installation at most 100 link
points can be set. This brings convenience especially
to mobile users and remote access users. Shundian thus
has saved a lot in hardware and human resource costs because
system administrator only has to manage computer systems
of chain stores as remote users at the headquarter.
Price Management of Commodities
Real-time transmission of price changes or new commodities
is realized between headquarter and chain stores. Headquarter
can set different prices for different stores. Stores
can also make promotion plans and set special prices.
Data Transmission
Stores can set their data transmission according to their
own needs. Any times of transmission is possible. Stores
can send or receive actively by one click. Data transmission
could be operated manually or at fixed time, which can
lower the pressure to the network.
Since Shundian has a large transaction amount, 40 POS
machines at front desk and 25 work stations at back end,
ISD provided a optimized total solution: using IBM Netfinity
as server, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 as database, and Sybase
Powerbuilder 6.5 as developing tool for client/server.
These high performance hardware and software together
enabled the application of such a large chain store.
